From RLCM Yearbook 2008 .....it is then their job to get shape off of the ball if they want to shift it, to go to dummy half. They then may be asked to do a sweeping run and get outside the core ruck defender. The hardest thing for that defender is when the winger has dropped back. They've not only got to run people off the ball, but they've also got to get behind the ball as quickly as possible and be a player that offers an option.
