By Ben Horne - The Warriors missed out on a home final but they will take plenty of momentum into the NRL playoffs after a comfortable 26-12 victory over Parramatta on Saturday night. In Nathan Cayless' 259th and final first grade match, the Eels tried hard but their passes just didn't stick and it was the same sorry story that has plagued the blue and gold's all season.

A crowd of just over 1,000 attended the Preliminary Finals at Davies Park. In the Premier Grade Preliminary Final, Deception Bay Bombers scored four tries to none in the first half to lead Wynnum Manly Juniors 18-0 at the break. In the second half, Deception Bay scored a further three tries to two, to win the match 30-10, scoring seven tries to two overall. Aspley will play Deception Bay Bombers in the Grand Final at Davies Park next Saturday at 4.00 PM.

Lebanese RLF announced 26 man squad Print E-mail

The Lebanese Rugby League Federation has announced its 26-man train-on squad for the autumn international programme after three weeks of intensive training. The Cedars, drawn largely from the domestic Bank of Beirut Rugby League Championship, will participate in a two-match tour of Italy this month, followed by the inaugural MENA Championship in October when a Pakistan selection will make its bow in representative competition.

French squad for Alitalia European Cup named Print E-mail

France coach Bobbie Goulding has named a 39-man train-on squad for the Alitalia European Cup that he is confident can win the competition and book their place in next year's Four Nations tournament.  In addition to the familiar names from the Catalans Dragons and Toulouse Olympique, Goulding has dipped into the French domestic competition for half of his squad and has also plucked a couple of debutants from the NRL.
