The Cronulla Sharks have begun their 'blitz' on the Sutherland Shire and regional communities as a part of the NRL's 2010 Community Carnival Program. With wet weather altering Monday's activities, the full-time NRL squad participated in a clinic with children from schools all over the Shire below the Southern Grandstand and in the Summertime Bar.
Some 330-350 school kids came together to participate in the day with the ARLD holding an 'Eat Well, Play Well' talk for the children. It not only gave the young kids the opportunity to rub shoulders with the Sharks players, coaching staff and Australian Rugby League Development team, but also to learn about healthy lifestyles.
The children were split into groups where 3-4 players took part in a Q & A session with the children and spoke about what it's like to be a professional football player. The players also signed autographs and 2010 Team Posters for them to keep.
On Tuesday, John Morris, Ben Pomeroy, Paul Gallen, Lancen Juodo, Dean Collis and Kyle O'Donnell will be on the Central Coast to take part in the blitz, while Luke Douglas, Kade Snowden, Broderick Wright, Josh Cordoba and Grant Millington will be at Walgett to mingle with the country crowd. |
